There's also a bunch of concerts going on sale Saturday. I'll try to get some data for their early sales this weekend.

I also went to look at sales at a few concerts at the Indiana State Fair so we could get a comparative sense for how ticket sales are going for Carrie's concert there on August 8th.

This is what the seating chart looks like for the Indiana State Fair. But as I found out when I looked for tickets, Carrie's seating chart looks different. The track for Carrie's concert is bigger than the map shows.


The center track section has 819 seats according to the seating chart. I estimate the left and right track sections combined have 702 seats so the total number of track seats is around 1521. BUT Carrie's track has at least 22 rows and the right and left sections go at least 30 deep instead of 21 deep. That should add at least 239 seats to the track and probably more than that. So the track for Carrie's concert seats at least 1760 and I'd guess it's actually at least 1800.

The lower level of the grandstand has 14 rows across 8 very wide sections. The upper level of the grandstand has 34 rows (rows 15-48) across 9 very wide sections. I don't know exactly how many seats each level holds but according to this source the venue holds 15,500 people total.

The sales pattern with state fairs is a little different than normal concerts in that there's usually a lot of walk in traffic on the day of the fair. Still Carrie's concert is selling great with a higher ticket price as you'll see.

Summary
They've probably sold all of the center sections of the lower level grandstand (sections 3,4, 6, 7). It seems like they've sold most of section 8 and probably section 2 also since they're already back to row 11 our of 14.

I'd guess with the upper levels they've sold some of the front of sections 3-7 in the upper grandstand and now they're selling the back of the center sections 4-6 in the upper grandstand. A very very rough estimate is that this concert has sold at least 6000-7000 tickets already. That depends on how much of the upper grandstand sections 6 and 7 they've sold and assumes each row in each grandstand section seats an average of 30 people (it might be more, because I did pull up a seat #40 in the lower level). I could be way off on that estimate.

Daughtry's just about sold out the track and has probably sold out 50% of the center sections of the lower level grandstand with the extreme left and right sections still to go. So that's a little more than 25% of the lower level grandstand sold already.

I'd guess they've sold a smaller percentage of sections 3 and 7 too. A very very rough estimate is that they've sold 1500 tickets.

Sugarland (Track tickets: $60, Grandstand tickets: $30-$40)

Summary
Sugarland has just about sold out the track. It seems like they're selling the front half of the upper level grandstand center sections before going further to the side of the lower level grandstand. A very very rough estimate that depends on how many seats there are in each grandstand row is that the Sugarland concert has sold 3000 tickets for the concert. I could be way off on that estimate.
